Call for works for 2005

60x60 (2003)

The 60x60 project is 60 music compositions created by 60 different composers each 60 seconds long (or less) and place continuously in a one hour concert. Click here for more information.

The call for works in 2003 was a huge success and represents compositions from a wide variety of styles and aesthetics from composers of many ages, career stages, and regions. We received more than 190 recorded works from over 90 composers around the world including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. Works ranged from 8 seconds to 60 seconds in length.

The concert has been performed 9 times since its inception with debuts in New York City (Manhattan), New York City (Brooklyn), Bucharest, and Istanbul. It has been performed in venues from concert halls, theater spaces, Universities and Colleges to night clubs.
Our first performance of 60x60 was debuted at UNDER St. Marks. concert in New York City. The concert consisted of a small introduction with the host of the concert who also set the analog clock for the commencement of the event. A presenter held cards each containing the name of the composer in 60x60. A card was displayed for the minute in which the composer's work was being played.
Next 60x60 project received its European debut in Bucharest, Romania on March 15, 2004 at the University of Bucharest.
Since then 60x60 has received encore performances at City University of New York at Brooklyn College in their 11th Annual International Electro-acoustic Festival on March 31st, 2004
A debut in Turkey at "New Music Days" Festival at Bilgi University in Istanbul on April 8th, 2004, where on of the members described the concert as "sounds that reminded me of when I was in the womb."
Several performances (April 28-30, and May 2, 2004) at One Arm Red in D.U.M.B.O. Brooklyn, NY. At this venue we took our vision one step further and collaborated with the underground film artist Nick Zedd to create a DVD visual to be played in conjunction with the concert.
The above collaboration led to expanding the project to another venue, the night club. "Lobby" a night club in New York City had a successful performance on May 13th, 2004 for an audience that is rarely reached with contemporary music.
In 60x60 (2003) We included the following composers:
Hiromi Abe, Aaron Acosta, Norman Adams, John Allemeier, Dennis Bathory-Kitsz, Nery Pedro Bauer Junior, Vladimir Beluntsov, Charles Berry, Scott Brickman, George Brunner, David Campbell, Elliott Carlson, David Claman, Andy Cohen, Douglas Cohen, Noah Creshevsky, Stephen Decesare, Derek Devore, Michael Edgerton, Daniel Eichenbaum, Mikado Endo, Elaine Fine, Wesley Fuller, Matias Giuliani, Gerado Perez Giusti, Gordon Green, David Hahn, James Hegarty, Norbert Herber, David Evan Jones, Michael Kinney, Mary Jane Leach, Stan Link, Tom Lopez, Eric Lyon, Eugene Marlow, David Mooney, Samy Moussa, Marco Oppedisano, Terry Winter Owens, Maggi Payne, Mark Petering, Gene Pritsker, Aaron Rogier, James Romig, Josh Ronsen, Marianna Rosett, Philip Schuessler, Coa Schwab, Eric Schwartz, Andrew Shapiro, Judith Shatin, Juan Solare, Allen Strange, Benjamin Thigpen, Eldad Tsabary, Michael Vernusky, John Villec, Christopher Ward, and Dwight Winenger
