Vladimir Beluntsov was born in the city of Perm, Russia. His penchant for music surfaced quite early, so he started studying piano and elementary ear-training under the guidance of his father who is a conductor. At the age of twelve his first compositional attempts began, although already prior to that time, as well as afterwards, he was fond of improvising at the piano. |
After completing an elementary musical school Vladimir Beluntsov entered Perm Junior Music College majoring in musical theory and graduated from there in the spring of 1993. In the same year he went to Moscow to study as a composer in Gnesin Academy of Music and spent one year there. The subsequent studies were interrupted by the move to USA in the Fall of 1994. In 1995 he entered Manhattan School of Music in New York City and has completed both Bachelor and Master Degree in composition. His Symphonic Prelude and Autumn Canticle were premiered at the time of completion of each degree, in 1999 and 2001 respectively. |
Vladimir Beluntsov has given a number of recitals as a pianist-composer; likewise, he possesses considerable accompanying experience for singers, instrumentalists and ballet (for instance, in NYC he has been working for more over six years at Ballet Hispanico of New York, plus other miscellaneous involvements). |
Among his most notable accomplishments is the award of First Prize in ALEA III International Competition for Young Composers which also entailed the successful premiere of his Serenade 2000 in Boston. Also, several of Vladimir Beluntsov's vocal works were successfully performed in 2001 -- 2002 in his native city at various venues and received a positive critical acclaim. His recent Four Songs on the Poems by Emily Dickinson have been premiered in St. Petersburg early in 2004. |
